Chris Sutton blown away by Declan Rice’s Euro 2020 displays
West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has been lauded by Chris Sutton for his performances at Euro 2020.
The Englishman has started all four games for Gareth Southgate’s side and has been a rock in the middle of the park shielding the defence.
He’s formed a superb partnership with Kalvin Phillips and the English duo have performed exceedingly well in the competition.

In his Daily Mail column, Sutton praised Rise and handed him an 8/10 rating on his form guide.
He wrote, “Rice was on a yellow from the eighth minute against Germany but did not shy away from doing his job. He just did it smartly.”
Having a great summer
Rice is subject to transfer speculation and interest from the country’s biggest clubs, but he hasn’t let any of that get to head yet.
He’s putting in the 7/10s at the bare minimum in every game and has been one of the main reasons why England haven’t conceded a goal thus far.
Not only has he protected the defence exceptionally, he’s also dropped into the back line time and again to make it look like a back three in possession with the two centre-backs moving closer to the touchline.

Having a player like Rice in his ranks gives Southgate the option to change his system in game without having to waste a substitution on it.
While we would like to see Rice play against Ukraine later today, he is on two yellows and it would be wise to give him a breather and start Jordan Henderson or Jude Bellingham in place of him.
The Three Lions will need Rice for the semis and the final if they make it and having the West Ham midfielder in the side will boost their chances of winning the contest.
