Chelsea market two first teamers to fund move for West Ham star Rice – report

Chelsea are willing to sell Kepa Arrizabalaga and Antonio Rudiger to fund a move for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, according to journalist Duncan Castles.

Rice was subject to interest from Frank Lampard’s side in the summer but a move never materialised and he remained at the London Stadium.

Chelsea still seem keen on Rice however and they are reportedly ready to take drastic action to fund the move.

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Castles claimed that Chelsea are looking to sell both Kepa and Rudiger to fund what could be a costly move for West Ham’s prized asset.

During the summer, The Sun reported that West Ham would demand £80 million for Rice and Chelsea were only offering £65 million.

The sales of both Kepa and Rudiger would put Chelsea in a stronger financial position to secure a move for Rice but his price may have increased based on his performances this season.

Rice is now a goalscoring international and has once again been a key member of David Moyes’ squad this season.

The 21-year-old has played every minute of Premier League action for the Hammers this season and the club may up their valuation of Rice if Chelsea want to sign him during the middle of the season.

The Irons would also need time to sign a replacement so if the Blues move for Rice in the late stages of the window it wouldn’t be a surprise if their bid was turned down.

Chelsea seem determined to get their man and after their mega spending spree in the summer transfer window, there is no doubt that they will be able to meet the Hammers’ valuation if they sell a few first-team players.
