Chelsea transfer news: FFP stance emerges on West Ham United and Tottenham linked Conor Gallagher

Chelsea may find it hard to turn down an offer north of £50million for West Ham and Tottenham’s 2023 target Conor Gallagher, according to the Guardian.

The newspaper reported on 4 January that the Englishman wants to stay and fight for his future despite the club being open to showing him the door.

However, the Blues may have to factor in FFP and could be tempted to sell him at the right price as it will count entirely as a profit.

Not worth it

The Hammers must exercise caution and potentially avoid pursuing Gallagher in the window, despite the willingness of Chelsea to listen to offers for the midfielder.

While the England international has shown promise and is valued by Mauricio Pochettino, his potential acquisition may come with a hefty price tag, especially if the Blues demand at least £50 million for the 23-year-old.

West Ham, known for their strategic approach in the transfer market, might find Gallagher’s cost prohibitive, particularly considering their financial constraints.

Additionally, their past reluctance to meet the asking price for Gallagher during the previous summer suggests that securing his services could strain the club’s budget.

With other positions to address, such as a top striker or a wide attacker, pursuing Gallagher may not align with West Ham’s immediate needs and financial prudence in the current transfer window.

Spurs will also be willing to offer him more in terms of wages than West Ham will be able to.
