Chelsea transfer news as Romeo Lavia medical update emerges ahead of West Ham United clash
Chelsea are set to secure the services of Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia ahead of their game against West Ham, according to the Secret Scout.
The reliable transfer news source reported on Wednesday (16 August) that the 19-year-old Belgium international will be having his medical in the coming hours.
The aim is to register him in time so that he’s available for the game at the London Stadium on Sunday (20 August).
Via Twitter, Secret Scout wrote, “Romeo Lavia will have his medical today. Ahead of his move to Chelsea. Aim is to have him available for West Ham.”
Tough game
Despite having a threadbare midfield last weekend, Chelsea gave a tough fight to Liverpool and arguably should have won that game.
They kept 65 per cent of the ball against one of the best pressing teams in Premier League history and have added to their cavalry since then.

Moises Caiecedo has joined from Brighton and Lavia is also likely to be available against West Ham.
The Hammers are already facing selection issues with Lucas Paqueta having every chance of missing the game given his uncertain future.
If he asks to be omitted from the squad, there’s not much David Moyes can do and perhaps it could be the time to hand Edson Alvarez his debut.
Getting anything from this game is going to be a challenge for West Ham but they’ve got to give it their best shot.
In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
