Chelsea transfer news: AC Milan twist with West Ham United, Nottingham Forest keen on Trevoh Chalobah

AC Milan have stepped out of the race to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah with West Ham and Nottingham Forest keen, according to Nizaar Kinsella.

The Evening Standard journalist reported on 1 February that the centre-back is happy to be at Stamford Bridge and rebuild his fitness and perhaps consider his options in the summer.

Hammers and Forest both wanted the 24-year-old on loan in the January transfer window.

Via Twitter, Kinsella wrote: “Trevoh Chalobah has had loan interest from Forest, West Ham and Atletico Madrid in January but nothing has materialised. AC Milan are not moving for him either.

“The defender is happy to wait until the summer as he rebuilds his fitness at Chelsea.”

Move on

Chalobah presents a tempting option for West Ham due to his versatility and potential contribution to their defensive line.

As a capable centre-back, Chalobah offers depth and flexibility, qualities valuable in a demanding Premier League campaign.

His willingness to rebuild fitness and consider options in the summer aligns with the Hammers’ potential short-term loan interest, providing an opportunity for him to showcase his abilities in a competitive environment.

However, West Ham must also consider the need to progress and solidify their squad for immediate success.

While Chalobah could offer short-term solutions, concerns over his fitness and readiness may pose risks to the team’s performance.

Additionally, if David Moyes has reservations about a first-team regular’s temperament, it underscores the importance of maintaining a cohesive and disciplined squad.

Ultimately, while Chalobah may be a viable option for the Irons, the club must carefully weigh the benefits against potential drawbacks and consider alternative options to strengthen their squad effectively.

In other West Ham news, David Moyes is now concerned over the temperament of a first-team regular and may decide to axe him after a recent transfer development.
