Chelsea fans slammed after what happened at Stamford Bridge v West Ham, ‘Shocking’

Chelsea fans have been torn to shreds by journalist Rahman Osman after what happened during the 2-1 win against West Ham United.

The Hammers suffered defeat at Stamford Bridge on Monday (3 February) in the most controversial of circumstances, as Levi Colwill looked to have fouled Jarrod Bowen in the build-up to Pedro Neto’s equaliser before a Aaron Wan-Bissaka own goal sealed the result.

However, the “soulless” atmosphere in West London has stolen the headlines after the defeat, with Four Four Two journalist Osman now reiterating the claims via X (4 February).

He wrote: “Someone has to say it – again the atmosphere in that first half against West Ham was shocking.”

West Ham United must learn from Chelsea’s mistakes

It is truly mind-boggling to think that England’s second most decorated outfit in terms of European trophies lacks a renowned atmosphere during home games.

At either end of the Premier League table, there are stadiums well-known for generating an electric matchday atmosphere, from Anfield and the City Ground to Goodison Park and the King Power Stadium.

Suppose a lack of atmosphere in Stamford Bridge is the price to pay for spending over £1billion on signings with no success to follow.

Nevertheless, West Ham should use the flat support in West London as a precautionary tale as Graham Potter strives to overcome teething problems in his reign at the London Stadium.

The loss on Monday marks the third defeat in five matches for the Irons boss – Sky Sports pundit Stephen Warnock has shared his concerns after the fact, using the rise of Everton under David Moyes as a blueprint for Potter to follow (4 February).

However, for Potter to achieve a successful end to the season, the supporters within the London Stadium must work towards creating a volatile atmosphere for the opposition and get behind the team.

The 12th man in football is a vastly underappreciated concept, and West Ham will need it for the rest of the campaign to give the players an edge in the remaining Premier League games.

In other West Ham news, Fulham made an “attempt to sign a player” during the Irons’ loss against Chelsea.
