Chelsea could sack Enzo Maresca in days as Graham Potter exit analysed at West Ham
Graham Potter was finally put out of his misery at West Ham on Saturday, being sacked in typical David Sullivan fashion.
Former Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed as West Ham manager just hours later.
Potter’s West Ham sacking was inevitable, as a poor 24/25 season continued into the new campaign, and he was unable to get consistent results as head coach.
Questions have been raised over West Ham’s hierarchy and their proactiveness in the situation.
The Premier League merry-go-round has started already, and Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca could now follow Potter in being relieved of his duties in the coming days.

Graham Potter tops West Ham possession stat as David Moyes and Enzo Maresca share similar situation
Former boss, David Moyes, delivered one of West Ham‘s most successful seasons in recent years when the Hammers won the Europa Conference League.
Moyes will always be fondly remembered at the London Stadium; however, his style of play split opinion despite obvious success.
Manager | Possession average | Points Per Game |
Graham Potter | 50% | 1.0 |
Manuel Pellegrini | 48% | 1.2 |
Slaven Bilic | 48% | 1.3 |
Julen Lopetegui | 47% | 1.2 |
David Moyes (1st spell) | 43% | 1.2 |
David Moyes (2nd spell) | 43% | 1.4 |
Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day on Sunday, Gabby Logan shared insight into how Maresca’s situation at Chelsea is similar to Moyes’ at West Ham.
“It feels like a whole culture around managers moving around these days, it’s very different, you could leave somewhere quickly and it doesn’t have to be a black mark on you’re CV,” she said.
“You look at Maresca, who’s apparently under pressure at Chelsea after two defeats, but he also has two trophies, and that’s not enough.
“He might be off, we understand, if things don’t go right for him at the Bridge on Tuesday.”
Now with Nuno coming in, how will his style of play align with what West Ham needs?

Can Nuno Espirito Santo deliver success at West Ham?
Nuno‘s appointment shows that Sullivan and Co. are looking to revert to a more transitional and less possession-based style of play.
The former Nottingham Forest head coach is known for setting his teams up as a solid defensive unit that looks to quickly get forward once they’ve won the ball back.
His style of play will look similar to Moyes’ as to whether he will be able to bring the same kind of success at the latter is yet to be determined.
This style of play is more suited to the current crop of players West Ham have at their disposal, and it would be no surprise to see results flying in very soon.
