Chelsea could offer Kurt Zouma compensation to ensure he moves to West Ham

Chelsea are reportedly considering offering compensation to Kurt Zouma in order to ensure that his proposed move to West Ham goes ahead as planned.

The France international is close to joining the Hammers but the deal is currently hinging on agents haggling over certain personal terms, per ExWHUemployee.

Presenter Ian McGarry, on a podcast hosted by Times journalist Duncan Castles, stated that Chelsea have a solution in case they fail to reach an agreement.

West Ham

He said on the Transfer Window podcast, “Proving herself to be a very canny operator in the market, Marina Granovskaia has decided that, if Zouma needs to extend the money he is getting paid at West Ham, Chelsea can facilitate part of his demands by paying him some compensation on his current contract in forms of a pay-off.

“One instalment would come five days after he signs for West Ham United and then another one next summer at exactly the same date, in order to assure the smooth transition of Zouma’s move to West Ham, and of course, in turn, receiving the fee from West Ham.”

Smoothens things considerably

The Irons have previously haggled over personal terms which has led to them being unable to land their desired target(s).

With Zouma, it seems like he is David Moyes’ priority and the Scotsman himself could be pushing the club to get this deal over the line as soon as possible.

West Ham

Chelsea seem to be desperate to get him off their books so are trying everything they can to make things easier for the Irons to sign him.

Despite their rivalry, the East London outfit are being handed a favour by the Blues and it’s one they must take advantage of and get the best possible deal as he’s very likely to move to the London Stadium before August 31.

We’re waiting on more updates in the coming hours, but unless a dramatic change of heart anywhere, we’re expecting Zouma to become a Hammers player this summer.
