Carlton Cole loves what West Ham loanee did as footage emerges

West Ham United loanee Gideon Kodua has caught the attention of former striker Carlton Cole with his recent performance.

Kodua is currently on loan at Luton Town in League One as he continues his search for first-team football away from the London Stadium.

Jack Wilshere’s side have the option to sign the winger permanently at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old joined West Ham back in 2017 and has worked his way through the academy at the East London club, but has yet to make a senior appearance.

Gideon Kodua scores late equaliser

Before making the move to Luton, Kodua spent a year and a half on loan at Wycombe Wanderers.

The Englishman made 21 League One appearances for the Chairboys last season, scoring twice in the third tier as well as once in the FA Cup.

On Saturday, Kodua came off the bench to grab a late equaliser for Luton, as they drew 1-1 with promotion-chasing Bolton Wanderers.

The Hammers loanee entered the fray with half an hour left and took full advantage of a loose ball in the Bolton penalty area to fire home late on.

On Instagram, Luton shared a video of Kodua’s strike, as well as the subsequent celebration, with the caption: “Clutch from Gideon.”

Former West Ham striker Cole was quick to give the youngster some praise, commenting with a heart to show his support.

Gideon Kodua impressing at Luton Town

Kodua has already surpassed the three goals he managed last term at Wycombe, notching four times in all competitions for Luton since joining over the summer.

The youngster has scored a number of very important goals for the Hatters as well, often coming off the bench to good effect.

Back in September, Kodua scored a 91st-minute equaliser from the penalty spot, as Luton drew 2-2 with Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

He repeated his heroics a month later, this time firing in a 92nd-minute winner as the League One outfit beat Forest Green Rovers 4-3 in the FA Cup.

After scoring yet another late goal against Bolton, Kodua will hope that he has earned himself a place in Wilshere’s starting lineup.
