Carlos Soler shares what Pablo Fornals told him about West Ham United

Carlos Soler has revealed that former West Ham United star Pablo Fornals helped convince him to make the move to East London.

Soler was Julen Lopetegui’s final addition to his squad on August 30, joining on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Spaniard shared that Fornals told him that West Ham were one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, with a big season ahead.

Speaking to the club’s official website (2 September) Soler shared what he hopes to do at the club after speaking with his countryman.

“I’ve spoken with Pablo Fornals, and he has told me that this club is one of the biggest in the Premier League, so let’s have a big season,” Soler said.

“He is an idol here and spent four-and-a-half seasons at West Ham. Hopefully, I can repeat his success.”

Carlos Soler joins West Ham United in new transfer

West Ham have made a lot of additions to their squad throughout the summer transfer window and have managed to field a new-look side compared to what they finished last season with.

Although for some teams, new arrivals take a while to gel, it feels as if Lopetegui has managed to get his team up to a solid standard already.

In particular, the likes of Max Kilman [Simon Stone, 13 August] and ex-Manchester United man Aaron Wan-Bissaka have already improved the Hammers’ team tenfold.

Within David Moyes’ squad last term, the defence was one of the main problem areas of the team with the Hammers even ending the season with the fourth-worst defensive record in the league.

It’s still early days of course but, it feels as if now Soler has arrived at the London Stadium, Lopetegui will have more options to field and perhaps even be allowed to change up his tactics should he so wish.
