‘Can really play’ – These West Ham fans in awe of one player v Liverpool
For much of West Ham United’s engaging, enthralling contest with runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool on Monday night, they were looking very good.
This was the sort of performance the Hammers faithful have been wanting their team to produce all season long.
It wasn’t perfect, but there was much more attacking intent and an offensive threat than we’ve seen in recent times.
One of the keys to the improved display offered up by the east London outfit in their 3-2 defeat at Anfield was central midfielder Tomas Soucek.
The Czech Republic international arrived at the London Stadium from Slavia Prague on a loan deal with an option to buy last month.
He’s immediately looked like exactly what the Irons were missing in the middle of the park, and he continued his positive start to life in England against the Reds.
It was just unfortunate that he had to come off early into the second half, although his replacement Pablo Fornals went on to score the team’s second goal, of course.
Still, the West Ham supporters certainly enjoyed what they saw from Soucek while he was on the pitch, with one them saying that he ‘can really play’.
