Callum Wilson predicts result of West Ham United clash v Newcastle

Callum Wilson has predicted that Newcastle United will beat West Ham United and he will score when the two sides face one another on Sunday 8 October.

The Hammers have returned to form in the last week, with wins over Sheffield United and Lincoln City, but face a Newcastle United side who are unbeaten in their last three Premier League matches in the final game before the October international break.

Wilson has missed the Magpies’ last two matches through injury but could return for the trip to the London Stadium this weekend and the England international’s record against the Hammers is remarkable, scoring 12 times in 13 appearances.

Discussing the game on the Footballer’s Football podcast (4 October, 3:30) with Michail Antonio, he said: “I might not make it, you never know. I’ll have to keep your dad Moysey guessing you know, if he sees me walking through the tunnel, he knows it’s a problem, isn’t it? You see me enter that stadium it’s a wrap for you man.

“There’s only one outcome, It’s a Newcastle win and it’s inevitable isn’t it? Just like the sun rises in the morning, Wilson scores against West Ham. It’s one of those things, it’s just part of life.”

Antonio was quick to reply saying: “I’m going to say it again, we aren’t worried about you. Your record is done, mate.”

Will he make it?

West Ham fans will likely be hoping that they don’t see Wilson arrive at the London Stadium on Sunday as he seemingly loves playing against the Hammers and his side’s have only ever lost three of their 13 clashes with the Irons.

Even if Wilson isn’t fit enough to play, Newcastle will present a huge test for Moyes’ side given their depth of attacking quality and the excellent form of the likes of Anthony Gordan and Alexander Isak in the early stages of the season.

Moyes will set up West Ham to be defensively solid as he has done in every game so far this season and hope that his side has enough to trouble the Magpies going forward and Antonio’s ability to hold the ball up in attack could be a crucial factor in the clash.

The Jamaican hasn’t scored in the Premier League since August and will be hoping that he can find the net on Sunday if not for the Hammers just to get one over his podcast co-host. Antonio has already promised Wilson and all his listeners that should he score, he’ll pull out the Kevin Nolan chicken dance in celebration.
