Tony Cascarino makes ‘best’ David Moyes claim live on talkSPORT ahead of Burnley v West Ham United

Tony Cascarino believes David Moyes now has “the best squad of players” available to him from across his two spells as West Ham manager.

West Ham return to Premier League action on Saturday (25 November) with a meeting against bottom side Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Hammers lost form prior to the final international break of the year, albeit stopping the slump with victory over Nottingham Forest last time out, but Cascarino does not believe they are at risk of sliding down the table.

West Ham

“David Moyes has got probably the best squad of players he’s had there,” he said on talkSPORT [25 November, 08:56].

“I know they’ve lost Declan Rice – a huge loss to them and a big challenge to move on from.

“But over the course of the season, I think they will be comfortable in mid-table.”

Squad game

Moyes has indeed got a stacked squad of talented players, which could come in handy against Burnley due to some injury concerns.

Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Michail Antonio all sustained injuries while away on international duty, with the latter definitely ruled out.

Should Bowen not be risked, it could mean Moyes having to turn to forgotten man Danny Ings to lead the attack in Lancashire.

It should be remembered, though, that Ings cost £15million to sign from Aston Villa earlier this year, which is not exactly small change.

That goes to show just how strong this squad is, particularly in the final third of the field.

United will finish mid-table at worst, but the hope is that some momentum can be found to propel us into contention for a European spot.

With Europa League, Carabao Cup and Premier League games coming thick and fast, this is now the time for every squad member to step up.
