Vincent Kompany emerges in ‘fascinating’ West Ham United new manager talk, Burnley exit predicted
Alex Crook says Vincent Kompany could be on the radar of West Ham should he depart Burnley at the end of the season.
The Irons are expected to appoint a new manager this summer when David Moyes’ existing contract at London Stadium expires.
Kompany guided Burnley to the Premier League in impressive style, but they are heading for an immediate return to the second tier.
Discussing possible managerial changes this summer, Crook told talkSPORT [25 April, 11:38am]: “West Ham will certainly make a change.
“There’s talk of Vincent Kompany leaving Burnley once their relegation is confirmed, so maybe he comes into West Ham’s thinking.
“Then you’ve got the Erik ten Hag situation, plus Mauricio Pochettino’s future is in the air at Chelsea, so it’ll be a fascinating few weeks.”
Vincent Kompany’s record at Burnley
Kompany was one of the all-time great Premier League defenders and captains at Manchester City and made a successful start to management.
While his time at Anderlecht went somewhat under the radar, his first season in charge of an English club was pretty high profile.
The Belgian looked a man destined for the top as Burnley swaggered to the Championship title in his first season in charge.
Not only did he earn Burnley promotion, Kompany also completely transformed their playing style into a side you would want to watch.

That playing style has ultimately come back to haunt the Clarets too many times this season, and they are heading for the drop.
Appointing a manager who has a relegation on his CV already, then, will hardly fill West Ham United fans with too much confidence.
Kompany does tick plenty of boxes, but there are better options out there if and when Moyes is given the boot.
