Bordeaux striker Hwang Ui-Jo prefers Wolves transfer over West Ham

Bordeaux striker Hwang Ui-Jo reportedly prefers a Wolves transfer this summer over a move to West Ham.

According to the Irish Daily Mirror (August 10, page 39), the £7m-rated South Korean has been on both sides’ transfer radar this transfer window.

He appears willing to leave the Ligue 2 club but he is not likely to arrive at the London Stadium in the coming weeks.

Not needed

The 29-year-old is admired by Rob Newman and has been linked with a move to the London Stadium for a while now.

However, the Hammers have not initiated talks with the player yet and are probably not likely to at any stage this summer.

Their interest made sense when they were in the hunt to sign a striker but they have since signed Gianluca Scamacca for big money.

He will represent an option not just for the present but also for the future so it makes a whole lot of sense for them to strengthen in other positions.

Hopefully, the club now ramp up their pursuit for a new centre-back and left-back while also continuing to look for reinforcements in midfield.

Thus far, one cannot fault the acquisitions this summer, but the buck cannot stop here and at least two more new faces must walk through the door.
