Bent tells Spurs to swoop for West Ham transfer target
It’s always tough for teams like West Ham United to sign top talent, because so much of it ends up lining the squads of the top sides in the Premier League.
So the last thing the Hammers need when they zero in on a world class player is for a pundit to come along telling a bigger team to steal said player from them.
Unfortunately that’s just what has happened in regards to the Irons’ reported pursuit of Napoli centre back Kalidou Koulibaly.
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent took the opportunity on Tuesday to advise his old side to hijack the Hammers’ hunt for the Senegal star.
“If West Ham can get him, that is a game-changer,” he told Football Insider. “That is where Spurs and Arsenal should be aiming their sights at to get him.
“Koulibaly, £70million, if West Ham think they can get him, surely Spurs and teams like that need to go and get him.”
West Ham Zone’s View
This is the last thing West Ham need if they are truly anywhere close to sealing a deal for Koulibaly.
It always seemed unlikely that the Hammers would sign someone who is widely regarded as one of the best centre backs in the world, but if teams like Tottenham and Arsenal get involved it would become nearly impossible.
Obviously Bent’s words alone wouldn’t be enough to induce the aforementioned duo to come in for the Napoli ace, but if they had any sense at all they’d do so anyway. He’s a top player.
In other West Ham news, the east London outfit are said to be in pole position to sign an AC Milan star.
