‘Behind the scenes’ – David Moyes shares major West Ham transfer update

West Ham United boss David Moyes has admitted that the Irons are closing in on new signings at the London Stadium.

The Hammers boss claimed that there could be some fresh faces through the door as early as next week in east London.

Grady Diangana has been sold by the club, much to the disgrace of the fans, and those funds are yet to be spent.

Moyes claimed that the club have also had some offers for their players and that some more could leave regardless of incomings.

“I think we’re closer to getting players in,” he told the official website.

“We’re edging towards it. Behind the scenes, we’ve had a couple of offers in for different players and we’re waiting on different outcomes, so I’m hoping we might have some news next week at some time.

“We’re trying to get ones in who will give us good balance to the squad, but we’re also having to think really clearly to get the right ones and make sure we’re doing the right thing.”

Moyes has made it no secret that he wants to strengthen his defence this summer, with his backline too fragile last season.

One player that won’t be joining the London Stadium is Burnley enforcer James Tarkowski after a number of bids were rejected.

Sky Sports recently reported that the Irons have had a third and final bid rejected by the Clarets as it falls way below the suggested £50million release clause.

Either West Ham have decided to go again for Tarkowski or have identified a new defensive target, Moyes appears to be positive that he is making progress.
