BBC Sport pundit shares David Moyes prediction amid moans from West Ham United fans

Clinton Morrison has backed West Ham to win the Europa Conference League and stay in the Premier League under David Moyes, despite moans from supporters.

The Hammers are into the last four of the Europa Conference League after defeating Gent 4-1 on Thursday (20 April) to secure a 5-2 aggregate win.

But they currently sit just four points outside of the relegation zone in a miserable Premier League campaign so far.

“Some West Ham fans have a moan at me sometimes on social media about why I’m always talking about Moyes staying,” Morrison said on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily. “But I just think he is the most experienced man at the moment.

“I think they can win the Europa Conference League, be playing Europa League football next season and I think they will be safe.”

Momentum shift

Moyes still has his critics, but he will have won many people over with the club’s recent results, with the manager engineering a massive shift in momentum in East London.

The Hammers are now unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions, a run that began with a 1-0 win at Fulham in a match that Moyes reportedly needed to win to ensure he avoided getting sacked [Sky Sports].

Since then, West Ham drew with Gent in their first leg clash, as well as picking up a well-deserved point against league leaders Arsenal.

The Hammers then overcame Gent in the second leg, and will now be full of confidence going into the Premier League meeting with Bournemouth on Sunday (23 April).

It remains to be seen what will happen to Moyes at the end of the campaign, with the boss potentially going out as a Hammers hero if he clinches the Europa Conference League trophy and guides his men to Premier League safety.
