BBC pundit left stunned by Maxwel Cornet penalty miss in West Ham v Burnley
West Ham managed a 1-1 draw against Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Hammers went 1-0 down in the first half and could have conceded another goal, but Maxwel Cornet failed to score from the spot.
Ray Houghton described his penalty miss as an “absolute shocker”, and it proved to be costly in the end.

“Absolute shocker,” said Houghton, as quoted by BBC Sport.
“The false run, he stops and waits; he tries to angle it across into the opposite corner and gets too much on it. What a miss; how big could that be?”
Poor from Johnson
Cornet went down inside the box after being brought down by Lukasz Fabianski.
He tried to be too clever. He waited for Fabianski to make a move first, but he simply couldn’t hit the target.
If you look at the build-up, it was Johnson who was at fault here. He couldn’t control the long ball properly and gave away the possession cheaply resulting in the sharp counter-attack.

Fabianski probably did the right thing to narrow the angle, but in the process conceded the penalty.
If Burnley would have taken a 2-0 lead at the break, it would have become really difficult for the Hammers to make a comeback, especially after playing a high-tempo game in the midweek in the Europa League.
The Hammers finally got the goal through Tomas Soucek and could have easily sealed all three points had they been more clinical in front of the goal.
Michail Antonio got a clear-cut opening to seal the tie in the Hammers’ favour right at the end, but he could only manage to hit Nick Pope from close range.
In other West Ham news, there was another Hammer who impressed pundits against the Clarets after a “wonderful” driven pass.
