BBC pundit Jill Scott awestruck by Jarrod Bowen performance in West Ham United draw v Arsenal
Former England Lionesses midfielder Jill Scott was blown away by West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen’s performance in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Sunday [16 April].
The Hammers impressively came back from two goals down against the league leaders to claim a crucial draw in their quest to secure their Premier League status for next season.
And David Moyes and his side had his star man Bown to thank for his all-round performance, including his stunning strike to equalise just after half-time, and Scott couldn’t hide her admiration for the former Hull City man after his performance.

Speaking on BBC Match of the Day [16 April, 17m:11s], she said: “There was a massive change in West Ham’s game and I really think that Jarrod Bowen was brilliant.
“From the first five or ten minutes, he was really on the front foot all the time. He was the person that made the difference.
“If you look at the goal, it was a great ball over the top and this for a finish just to hit that into the ground, he could have easily hit that too high but I thought it was a fantastic finish as it was exactly what West Ham United needed.”
Amazing
When Arsenal went 2-0 up in the first ten minutes, you really thought this was gonna be another Newcastle United defeat for West Ham United but Moyes’ men were truly remarkable in the way they came back into the game with a spirited, determined and excellent performance, especially given the circumstances.
When you’re down at the bottom fighting for your lives to stay in the Premier League, this is the kind of performance that can set the tone for the crucial run-in and the Hammers did just that.

And Bowen was a key figure in their charge as he almost single-handedly dragged his side back into the game against a tough Arsenal team.
The England international was anywhere and everywhere as he really set the tone for West Ham’s energy, aggression and pressing alongside Declan Rice and he also took his goal brilliantly as Scott lauded over. Many players will have volleyed that over the bar or even wide but Bowen possessed the technical brilliance to beat Aaron Ramsdale with that strike.
It hasn’t been the season Bowen would have hoped for, but he’s the player that can have a huge say in how the club finishes their season. Amazing performance and Moyes will be heavily reliant on him to end the West Ham United campaign on a high.
