BBC pundit destroys ‘sloppy’ Aaron Cresswell live on air after what he did in West Ham United v Bristol City
Danny Gabbidon has slammed West Ham United veteran Aaron Cresswell after his “sloppy” passing in their FA Cup replay against Bristol City.
West Ham United were looking to secure their place in the fourth round but made hard work of their task after a strong start from The Robins on Tuesday (16 January).
The Robins took a surprise early lead when Konstantinos Mavropanos gave away a poor back-pass which left goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianksi short before Tommy Conway took advantage of to score into an empty net.

The error-strewn theme continued well into the second half with Aaron Cresswell also nearly giving away an opportunity before half-time.
And pundit Gabbidon, speaking live on BBC Sports coverage (16 January, 8:30 pm) slammed the Hammers veteran for his “sloppy” passing. He said: “Yeah, that’s sloppy from Cresswell. West Ham have been really disappointing with their passing, giving the ball away so easily.
“Give credit to Bristol City, the defending out of possession and the intent in their pressing, they’ve been stepping into the West Ham faces, and winning the ball back.
“Expect a lot better from this West Ham team, yes there are changes to the starting 11 but they’re not on the same page.”
Expect better
No player is immune from the huge pressure imposed from sides smaller than them in cup competitions but the way in which West Ham United were passing the ball in that first half was mightily disappointing.
These are very experienced individuals also, especially Cresswell whose lack of minutes and opportunities at the London Stadium certainly showed in that game at Ashton Gate.

The Hammers were so bad in that half and it showed through Mavropanos’ costly mistake for Bristol City’s goal. There are no excuses for the Irons in a game where everyone is expecting them to grab the win and secure their place in the next round.
Yes, Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus weren’t present for the game but there are still experienced internationals on that pitch and players who have played 200-odd games and Cresswell is in that category. A lacklustre display from a player on his last legs at the London Stadium.
