BBC Match of the Day man gushes over Said Benrahma in West Ham v Anderlecht
Said Benrahma is earning rave reviews for his direct free kick goal in the first half of the West Ham v Anderlecht clash on Thursday night.
The Hammers will secure top spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League clash if they manage to pick up three points.
They do look to be on course, especially after the Algerian’s strike from outside the box – his second goal this season.
Speaking on the UEFA world feed, Jonathan Pearce, a BBC Match of the Day commentator, said (20:17, 13/10), “That’s a lovely strike by Benrahma. What a daft free kick to give away though.”

Confidence booster
Benrahma needed that goal, especially after the slow start he’s had to the season.
That could just be due to a dip in form or it could be a lack of confidence as well and in case it’s the latter, he now scores a wonder goal to get that back.
Scoring direct free kicks are special for any player no matter where they are in their career and we’re not sure if this goal will put the Algerian back into David Moyes’ plans.
He may have selected the eleven for the weekend clash against Southampton so it will be a real surprise if Benrahma makes the eleven for that one.
However, in case he goes on and has a crazy second half and scores a couple of more goals, Moyes may have no option but to play him.
This is a wonderful dilemma for the manager to have and he’ll surely be proud of what he’s seen so far from Benrahma and the rest of the West Ham team.
