Bayern Munich now want to sign Kalvin Phillips after decision on West Ham United ace Declan Rice
Bayern Munich have reportedly cooled their interest in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and have turned to Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips instead.
According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, the former Leeds United ace is an alternative to the 24-year-old and is on their shortlist for this summer.
Bayern had also been tipped to be among the suitors for Rice along with Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.
Falk wrote on Twitter, “FC Bayern have Kalvin Phillips (27) of Manchester City on their Shortlist. Philips is the alternative for Declan Rice.”
Pretenders
Throughout this window, Bayern have been linked with Rice but they’ve always seemed like pretenders in the entire pursuit.
They never really came up with a bid or even touched base with the midfielder’s representatives and it’s no surprise that they’re looking at other options.
Rice does not appear to be keen on leaving England and if he’s got last season’s best clubs vying for his services, the world is his oyster.

He’s going to end up being the most expensive English player of all time and certainly will be the biggest ever sale for the Hammers.
Bayern can focus on Phillips while City, Arsenal and perhaps Manchester United can enter a bidding war for the 24-year-old.
It remains to be seen where he ends up going but the fact is that West Ham are set to make a huge amount of money in the coming weeks.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are already preparing to cash in on the Declan Rice money as they hold a transfer meeting in London as they’re confident of sealing a £50million signing.
