Bayern Munich ditch bid to sign West Ham United star Declan Rice, ‘new name’ wanted instead – Sky Sports

Bayern Munich have ditched their bid to sign star midfielder Declan Rice from West Ham, according to Sky Sports Germany.

The broadcaster noted that the Bundesliga outfit will now turn their attention to Brighton and Ecuador ace Moises Caicedo.

The interest in Caicedo comes as Bayern look to strengthen in defensive midfield, but Sky Sports Germany added that Chelsea and Liverpool are also eyeing his signature.

“Declan Rice is not moving to Bayern, but Bayern are still looking for reinforcements for defensive midfield,” according to Sky Sports Germany.

“According to Sky information, there is now a new name on the list: Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo.”

Hugely talented duo

Rice and Caicedo are in a very similar position this summer, with both players seemingly heavily sought-after by some of the biggest clubs in world football.

And the interest in both is certainly understandable after the seasons they have just enjoyed at their respective clubs.

Rice was once again the main man for the Hammers as they avoided relegation to the Championship and clinched an unforgettable Europa Conference League title, while Caicedo was one of many Brighton stars to shine as the Seagulls clinched European football for the first time in their history.

The latter, of course, comes with the added bonus of being able to slot effortlessly into right-back, with his versatility akin to current Bayern Munich ace Joshua Kimmich.

The news that Rice is no longer wanted by the German giants will be welcome news to West Ham and their fans, but it may simply be prolonging the inevitable, with their lack of intention now opening the door to the likes of Arsenal to sign the Hammers captain.
