Barcelona offer Philippe Coutinho to West Ham United
Barcelona have tasked Kia Joorabchian – the agent of Philippe Coutinho – with speaking with West Ham United over a summer move, according to The Mirror.
The Catalans want the Brazilian international removed from their wage bill and are ready to send him out on loan again and pay 40 per cent of his £7.7million-a-year wages.
Barca want a deal done before Friday, but West Ham are not the only ones they have offered the 29-year-old to, with Wolves and Leicester City also told he is available.
Huge gamble
Coutinho has struggled to recreate his Liverpool magic since joining Barcelona for £130million in January 2018, but we believe he still has something in him, and a return to the Premier League could bring out the best in him again.
West Ham need a creative attacker if we want to impress again next season and go far in Europe, and the South American could prove to be a gamble worth taking.
He spent 2018-19 on loan at Bayern Munich, with their former manager Niko Kovac saying he is a world-class footballer from what he saw [Bundesliga.com].
Jurgen Klopp and most Premier League fans would agree, and should Coutinho manage to overcome his fitness woes, he could become a quality performer again.
A loan spell that will cost us around £4.62million in wages is something we should take the punt on.
There are no guarantees it would work out given that he spent the latter half of last season on the injury sidelines.
It is a massive risk, but seeing Coutinho in a West Ham shirt is appealing.
However, whether manager David Moyes and the board share the same sentiment remains unknown.
