Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba offered to West Ham amid contract stand-off

West Ham United have been offered the services of Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba following a contract stand-off, according to 90min.

The 18-year-old Spaniard is refusing to put pen to paper on an extension as he enters the last months of his current contract at the La Liga club.

The trio of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have all spoken to Moriba’s representatives, while he has also been offered to the likes of Leicester and Wolves alongside the Hammers.

Barca fear they may need to find a buyer before he leaves for free next summer, and more suitors could join the race.

What appears to be a lack of funds has seen the Hammers sign just one player so far – French goalkeeper Alphonse Areola – but Moriba could be available for a bargain given his contract situation.

He made 14 La Liga appearances last season, scoring once and weighing in with two assists, and making such a number of appearances for the Spanish giants speaks volumes.

We could do with a youngster with such a huge potential, and the fact that we are offering European football could be an advantage for us.

Moriba would be keen to move to a team where he can play regularly should he leave Camp Nou, and that could be available at the London Stadium with Mark Noble now in the final season of his playing career.

West Ham could be the perfect destination for his development to continue, and it will be interesting to see whether we can beat other clubs to his signature.
