Aston Villa update emerges for West Ham United in Jonathan Rowe transfer race in 2024 development

Aston Villa, Brentford and Wolves have joined West Ham United in monitoring Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe during the January transfer window, according to Graeme Bailey.

The journalist reported via HITC on Saturday (13 January) that several Premier League sides are monitoring the 20-year-old star, but it is unlikely that any of these suitors will opt to submit bids for the Canaries winger during the January transfer window.

Instead, the teams that are monitoring the forward this month are keeping a close eye on his situation ahead of the summer transfer window in the hope of securing his services come the end of the domestic campaign.

Rowe has been a standout performer for the Canaries this season, scoring 11 goals in 25 Championship outings.

The wait goes on

The summer transfer window saw West Ham take their time to get their transfer business up and running as their Premier League rivals quickly strengthened around them and so far this month is panning out in exactly the same way.

David Moyes’ side have been linked with a number of potential new signings as the Scotsman looks to add to his frontline before the start of February, but so far, none of these links have led to anything more than interest, let alone bids.

The Hammers need new arrivals and they need them quickly as currently, their frontline has been ravaged by injury with Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio all set for spells on the sidelines while Mohammed Kudus jets off to the African Cup of Nations.

With so few options at their disposal, the Irons need to be identifying deals that they can complete here and now rather than eyeing transfers that could be made in the summer. If they like the look of Rowe and want to secure his signature, they should act sooner rather than later.

If they leave this deal until the summer, more and more teams will become interested in the 20-year-old gem and his price will only rise. The Hammers can’t let this chance pass them by and should begin preparing a transfer bid.
