Asamoah Gyan shares verdict on Mohammed Kudus after West Ham United ace plays for Ghana

Asamoah Gyan has praised West Ham man Mohammed Kudus’ performance for Ghana against the Central African Republic, claiming he is “the star man in this Black Stars team.”

Taking to his personal X account (8 September), the all-time Ghana top scorer was filled with praise for the Hammers star, citing his “composed” and “realised” performance in the AFCON qualifier.

He did however claim that there is “more room for improvement” in the Ghana side, but clearly suggests Kudus is the shining light of the Black Stars.

Gyan said: “I loved how Kudus played. He was more composed and realized the balls at the right time. For me, he is the Star man in this Black Stars team at the moment. More room for improvement.”

High praise

It must be an honour to earn such praise from a true legend of your national team. The pairs just missed each other as international teammates, with Gyan retiring from the Black Stars in May 2019, while Kudus made his debut later this year in November.

While they never shared a pitch as teammates, the new “star” of Ghana is clearly highly regarded by Gyan, who will hope the Hammers’ new star can help with the “improvements” needed in the national side.

Kudus will be keen to help the Black Stars improve, as an average team performance nearly resulted in an upset against significantly weaker opposition.

Kudus’ performance was pivotal to the Black Stars earning their 2-1 victory over the Central African Republic, with his late first-half freekick scorching past the goalkeeper to equalise the match.

West Ham

The 23-year-old has hardly got life at West Ham started, making his debut as a late substitute in the Hammers’ 2-1 victory over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road – three points which left them in the Top 4 heading into the international break.

Kudus will come back to a flying West Ham side, who have defied many’s expectations of them considering their poor relegation-threatened outing in the Premier League last season.

Gyan is just the latest to sing their praised for the former Ajax man, but could soon be the “star” of West Ham too.

In other West Ham news, an injury expert has shared a warning about a new Hammers’ signing, suggesting he may be unavailable for the Manchester City clash.
