Arthur Masuaku’s latest mistake at Besiktas surely spells end of his West Ham United career
Arthur Masuaku was deemed surplus to requirements at West Ham in the summer and based on his loan form his Hammers career is over.
Masuaku fell down David Moyes’ pecking at London Stadium last season and jetted off to Turkey in the summer after the Scot informed him he was out of his plans.
The 28-year-old wing-back will be wanting to prove Moyes wrong during his spell at Besiktas, but the DR Congo international has been in poor form and it was summed up on the weekend when he made a vital error.
Besiktas drew 2-2 with Trabzonspor on Sunday, and Masuaku made a grave error by losing possession and allowing Trezeguet to give the visitors a lead.
Following the match, Masuaku took to Twitter to apologise: “One for me today, sorry to the fans and my team.. we deserved to win today.”

If West Ham are serious about wanting to become a team regularly competing in Europe, then the club need to make some tough decisions, especially about selling players.
There’s no room for loyalty towards players evidently not good enough, and Masuaku falls under that category. If he shone during his Besiktas spell and returned to east London in good form then Moyes may have given him a second chance in the side.

But it’s been the complete opposite and Masuaku has only lost confidence during his temporary trip to Turkey.
Maxwel Cornet has come over the summer and taken Masuaku’s place at left wing-back. Moyes clearly knew that West Ham needed to improve in that position, so the board need to listen and quickly sort a move out for Masuaku.
The club wouldn’t likely receive a large fee – if any – for Masuaku, but simply getting rid and opening up a spot in the squad for a new arrival is exactly what is needed at the London Stadium.
