Arthur Masuaku turns down new West Ham United exit route amid Besiktas upturn

Arthur Masuaku has turned down the chance to make his West Ham United exit permanent despite receiving an offer, according to Fanatik.

The left-back, from the Democratic Republic of Congo, is currently on loan at Besiktas and had been struggling with issues both on and off the field but he has since resolved those and scored the winner in their latest match.

Prior to the sudden turnaround, Greek giants Olympiakos had made an approach to sign him in the January transfer window, taking over his season-long loan at Vodafone Park.

But with things on the up in Istanbul, Masuaku now wants to complete the season under Senol Gunes with the Black and Whites and therefore chose to reject the offer from Greece.

Besiktas will make the loan deal a permanent one themselves in the summer if the 29-year-old plays in enough matches thanks to a clause in the agreement with West Ham.

Extra cash

If the decision was solely West Ham United’s they would probably accept the cash up front from Olympiakos over waiting until the summer when Besiktas can make the move happen to try and give David Moyes as much help as possible in the January window.

The Irons board can’t afford to back him as much as they did in the summer with Financial Fair Play to consider so there might not be many incoming in the winter despite the precarious position they find themselves in.

But Masuaku can’t think about what West Ham want because he is of no interest to them anymore so he will obviously be selfish and think what he wants to do.

He has chosen Istanbul over Athens and he is entitled to do so which means the Hammers have to keep paying a fraction of his wages until the end of the season when the Turkish side takes over fully.
