Arthur Masuaku sends Twitter message as West Ham United confirm transfer

West Ham have confirmed on their official website on Tuesday (2 August) that Arthur Masuaku has left the club to join Turkish club Besiktas on loan.

The DR Congo international moves to the Turkish Super Lig club with a view to making the transfer permanent in the summer of 2023.

Masuaku has sent a one-word tweet after Besiktas confirmed the news on Twitter.

New signing incoming?

The 28-year-old has made 129 appearances across six seasons with the Hammers, since joining from Greek side Olympiacos in August 2016.

Masuaku has always been an adventurous full-back, but his defensive skills have been questioned time and again.

Last season, Masuaku had a great opportunity to cement his position in the side when West Ham missed several of their key players through injuries, but he failed to make a strong impression.

David Moyes is looking to sign a new left-back who can also play as a left-sided midfielder, and Masuaku’s departure indicates that the manager has plans in place to fill the void.

Aaron Cresswell now remains the only option at the club, and Moyes needs to add at least one more player in that position before the end of the transfer window.

The Hammers have been linked with Filip Kostic, but the deal looks complicated at the moment.
