Anthony Gordon has head up backside as Newcastle star savaged v West Ham
Luke Edwards did not hold back in his analysis of Newcastle United claiming Anthony Gordon had his “head up his backside” against West Ham.
The Hammers travelled up to St James’ Park on Monday [25 November] and came away victorious with a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Tomas Soucek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The result leaves West Ham 14th in the Premier League table while Newcastle sit in 10th.
However, despite their position, The Telegraph’s Edwards was ruthless in his analysis of the Toon players with Gordon picked out as he said on X: “Gordon needs to get his head out of his backside.”
West Ham win or Newcastle United loss?
The result of this game will have shocked quite a few people but the three points are crucial for the Hammers and Julen Lopetegui who will no doubt feel a weight lifted from his shoulders after plenty of chatter surrounding his future at the London Stadium.
Newcastle were not up to their usual standard last night and you could tell it wasn’t going to be their night as you watched chances Alexander Isak usually would have scored every time being wasted while starman Gordon struggled to get into the game.
However, West Ham deserve some credit for their performance too. They were well organised and once they got themselves ahead, they were prepared to see the game out but could put the pressure on in the right situations as well.
Naturally, those from the perspective of the Magpies are going to be left with questions about Eddie Howe’s side but Lopetegui and his men should be praised for their victory too.
