Angelo Ogbonna disappointed by West Ham loss to Brentford
West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna issued a Twitter message saying that he was disappointed with the result against Brentford.
The Hammers played host to the newly-promoted side and were expected to pick up three points at the London Stadium.
However, they ended up falling to a shock 2-1 defeat courtesy of Yoane Wissa’s stoppage time winner for the Bees.
Ogbonna took to Twitter a day after the game to say, “Very disappointed for the result yesterday. After the break we go again.”
He was criticised by David Moyes after the game. The Hammers boss said, “I thought their player should not have been able to get from the byline and it was a stupid free kick to concede [by Ogbonna].”
Showing real character
Ogbonna knows that the second goal was partly his fault and he could have done more to stop Bryan Mbeumo from opening the scoring on the afternoon.
The Brentford was quickest to react to Ivan Toney’s effort that was parried by Lukasz Fabianski and Ogbonna failed to track his run.
He’s certainly going to have better games, but it’s good to see him come out and post a statement promising that he and his teammates will be back in no time.
The international break has come at the right time as there will be a few heads down.
Games against Manchester United and Brentford were both winnable, but the Hammers have come away from those two results with zero points in the bag.
A change of scene will be beneficial for everyone and hopefully we see a spirited performance once they’re back.
