Andy Goldstein gives one-word verdict on West Ham United after what happened v Chelsea
Andy Goldstein has torn into “terrible” West Ham United live on talkSPORT after what he saw them do during their game versus Chelsea.
The Hammers had a poor showing against the Blues last weekend and managed to lose 3-0. Their poor form also carried over into this week as they managed to concede five goals against Liverpool on Wednesday (25 September) in a 5-1 loss.
Pressure has been building on Julen Lopetegui since the start of the season and, if things don’t turn around soon, the future doesn’t look too bright for the former Wolves boss [Fabrizio Romano, 26 September].
Speaking live on talkSPORT (26 September, 17:09pm), Goldstein discussed the Hammers’ poor form with co-host Darren Bent.
“They missed chances and were too easy to play against. I don’t think that they’ve got the legs to compete, certainly in the middle of the pitch,” Bent said. “Did you see them against Chelsea?
Goldstein replied: “They were terrible.”
Julen Lopetegui needs a West Ham United change-up
Since the start of the season, Lopetegui has been fielding a similar team each game with the same backbone of players.
Indeed, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has come in to replace Vladimir Coufal but aside from that, the Hammers are practically lining up the same team from last season, aside from Max Kilman of course.
West Ham had a strong transfer window over the summer and bolstered key areas across their squad.
Players such as £34million man Jean Clair-Todibo arrived but, much like his fellow newbies, the Frenchman has failed to break into the Hammers’ first team despite their poor performances.

Crysencio Summerville and Carlos Soler are two others who have been used infrequently and it feels like they could make a difference to the team if called upon.
While there’s still plenty of time for things to be turned around, it feels like if West Ham’s poor run of form continues, they will find themselves in a rather sticky situation with no obvious way out.
