Ally McCoist shares ‘shocking’ West Ham United verdict as David Moyes speculation emerges, Tony Gale reacts

Tony Gale wants West Ham to stand by David Moyes despite increasing calls for the Scotsman to be sacked amid a poor run of form.

The Hammers lose 4-0 to Brighton at the weekend, leaving them 16th in the Premier League and just two points clear of the bottom of the table.

The Daily Mail reported on 5 March that as it stands, the Irons are not going to sack Moyes and Gale agrees that’s the best course of action with Ally McCoist slamming the performance at Brighton on Saturday (4 March).

“There was a great result at home against Nottingham Forest and then a really shocking result and a poor display [versus Brighton],” said McCoist on talkSPORT, as shown on YouTube.

“Questions marks are hovering over big Moysey again. Where do you see the club at this moment in time?

“Obviously last season was an excellent season but there’s no consistency at all in that squad.”

Gale replied: “The last two seasons have been really, really good and I know David’s said we’ve been spoilt – and we have a little bit.

“Normally it’s a bit of a struggle. But the last two seasons have set the bar and this one’s well under the bar.

“It’s a struggle but I believe they’ll get out of it, Ally. And I think they’ve got to not panic at the moment.

“I know everyone around them are getting rid of managers and trying to get that little kick-back of getting a new manager in.

“I believe David can get us out of trouble.”

Going nowhere – yet

We’ve heard it all before, haven’t we?

Reports emerging, clubs releasing statements and owners talking about managers having their full faith and confidence that they can turn a bad run of form around.

And usually, one more defeat means they’re gone.

That’s the situation West Ham seem to be in right now because Moyes is really struggling to get a tune out of the players he spent so much money on in the summer and also the players who’ve been at the club a few years.

Just look at how poor Declan Rice has been this term. Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek – two players brought in by Moyes – have also gone backwards a fair bit.

Gianluca Scamacca, Thilo Kehrer, Nayef Aguerd and Lucas Paqueta have also, so far, failed to make their mark since arriving in a big-money summer splurge.

It’s getting desperate now and we still have some tough games left to play against Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Should Moyes be sacked?

It’s really hard to say but we’re leaning to the belief that he should be.
