Alex Crook shares ‘Bizarre’ West Ham United claim after Everton announcement
Alex Crook has shared a “bizarre” claim on the sacking of Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United after breaking Everton news emerged.
A day after the Hammers moved to sack Lopetegui, Everton have dismissed Sean Dyche only hours before the FA Cup third-round tie against Peterborough United.
Crook reacted to the breaking news live on talkSPORT [9 January, 4:39pm] and took a swipe at West Ham after Lopetegui was allowed to lead first-team training ahead of his removal.
He said: “I’ll tell you what, just when you thought the Lopetegui dismissal was the most bizarre sacking in Premier League history, basically being allowed to take training for two days, even though he knew he was getting fired, well this might just top it.
“Hours before Everton begin their FA Cup campaign at home to Peterborough, Sean Dyche [has been] sacked by the Toffees.”
West Ham United made the correct decision with Graham Potter
The end of the Lopetegui can be considered two months too late, but West Ham wasted no time beating Everton to the punch for Graham Potter.
As per BBC Sport reporter Jess Anderson [9 January], Potter moved to East London over Merseyside due to the Irons’ reputation for allowing managers to build a project.
And now Everton have announced they have parted ways with Dyche, the decision to move for the ex-Brighton and Chelsea boss looks all the more perfectly executed by David Sullivan.
However, West Ham and Everton should both be ashamed of how they conducted the respective sackings – Dyche was sacked hours before he was set to lead his side out in the FA Cup, and Lopetegui was still at Rush Green when his announcement surfaced.

Indeed, the Spaniard should never have been hired in the first place, but the blame is not solely on his shoulders for how his reign panned out.
Tim Steidten effectively blew the £120million transfer kitty on injury-prone players and underwhelming signings, whereas Sullivan sat back and watched the events unfold, only stepping in at the final hour.
While the West Ham faithful can argue that the managerial fiasco worked out perfectly, Sullivan has certainly not painted himself in a good light in how he handled the situation.
