Alex Crook moots exit for Lucas Paqueta as player not ‘entirely enamoured’ with West Ham United life

Lucas Paqueta could leave West Ham this summer as he isn’t “entirely enamoured” with his life at the club, according to journalist Alex Crook.

The 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder joined the East London outfit on a five-year contract from French side Lyon last summer.

Paqueta made 41 appearances in all competitions in his debut season with the Hammers, scoring five goals along the way.

“I’m told even Paqueta, one of the stars of last season, maybe isn’t entirely enamoured with life at West Ham,” Crook said live on talkSPORT.

“So I think this is a really concerning state of events for West Ham fans.”

One to keep

It was clear for a very long time that West Ham were going to lose Declan Rice this summer, and that did, of course, happen as the midfield maestro left for Arsenal for £105million.

Plenty of time has passed since his exit, but the Hammers have not yet been successful in acquiring a much-needed replacement.

Instead, much of the talk surrounding the East London outfit has focused on further exits, with the likes of Michail Antonio, Aaron Cresswell and Gianluca Scamacca all potentially on their way out.

They may be allowed to leave this summer, but that shouldn’t be the case for Brazil star Paqueta, who is definitely needed in claret and blue next season.

He took a while to fully get going in his debut season in England, but his talents were there for all to see when he finally settled down at the London Stadium following his switch from Lyon.

In other West Ham news, a Hammers player has emerged as a “cheaper” option in one European club’s pursuit of a new striker, according to Fabrizio Romano.
