Alex Bruce tips West Ham youngster to make big impact next season
West Ham United youngster Grady Diangana has been one of the success stories of the season for the club, despite not playing for them.
The 21-year-old has bagged five goals and five assists on loan at Championship promotion-chasers West Bromwich Albion.
He had been such a sensation over the first half of the season that there were calls for the winger to return to the London Stadium in January.
That didn’t happen, largely because of injuries, but all that’s likely done has delayed his Premier League impact by a few months.
Former Premier League centre back Alex Bruce certainly feels that Diangana can excel in east London next term.
“You’d have to say so, yes [he’ll make an impact],” he told Football Insider. “West Ham haven’t really performed that well this year, have they?
“The fact he’s gone there to West Brom and been a plus is something that I’m sure David Moyes will be looking at for next season.”
The youngster has missed the last four games with injury, so hopefully he gets back to full fitness soon and resumes his outstanding campaign.
Will Diangana light up east London next season?
If he’s at the club, then yes.
That’s the big issue for the Hammers at the moment. If they go down and West Brom go up, then Slaven Bilic could well nab Diangana from his former club.
At the moment, though, it’s all about him getting back fit and playing regularly once again. Once that happens, we can start to discuss how he’ll do back in claret and blue.
Having said that, you’d be pretty surprised if he wasn’t a first team regular for the Irons next time out.
In other West Ham news, the club are reportedly all-in on an Argentine international right back.
