Alan Shearer names Lucas Paqueta in Team of the Week, West Ham United ace on ‘another level’
Former Newcastle United and England striker Alan Shearer has named West Ham star Lucas Paqueta in his Premier League Team of the Week.
The Brazilian attacker picked up an assist in the East London club’s 2-1 victory against newly-promoted side Luton Town on Friday (1 September).
West Ham sit fourth in the table after the win, with three victories and a draw from their first four matches of the new season.

The 26-year-old attacker boasts one goal and one assist from his four appearances so far for the new Premier League campaign.
“Magnificent cross for Jarrod Bowen’s goal. He was on another level to anyone else on the pitch,” Shearer told the official Premier League website.

Star man
West Ham fans would have been fearing the worst amid Paqueta’s strong links with a move to Premier League champions Manchester City this summer.
The attacker seemingly almost left the London Stadium for Pep Guardiola’s side in the transfer window, but in the end a move did not materialise. And that is huge news for West Ham, with Paqueta a hugely important player for manager David Moyes.
The Brazilian is not only gifted on the ball, but his passion and energy are superb assists for the Hammers.
Moreover, Paqueta is also very versatile, often filling in at defensive midfield when required, rather than playing in his usual attacking midfield spot.
The midfielder, who struggled somewhat in the early stages of his career at the London Stadium, has really come to life, and his importance in claret and blue is only set to increase as the months go on, with Europa League football coming to East London soon.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have a new hero as stunning Premier League statistics have emerged after the recent win against Luton.
