Alan Shearer blown away over ‘superb’ West Ham United manager David Moyes

Alan Shearer has held back no praise for “superb” West Ham manager David Moyes after another impressive season at the London Stadium.

The Irons’ Premier League campaign came to and with a 3-1 defeat to Brighton which saw them remain in seventh.

Despite not usurping Manchester United – who lost 1-0 against Crystal Palace – for the last Europa League spot, Shearer insists that the Scot can be “really pleased” with this the 2021/22 campaign.

He told Match of the Day: “In the grand scheme of things the job that David Moyes has done at West Ham since he has been in there – saved them from relegation, took them to a semi-final in the Europa League, again qualified for Europe.

“He can be really pleased with another good season David Moyes – superb job.”

High standards.

What Moyes has done at West Ham is nothing short of remarkable.

To be sacked after keeping them in the league in 2019 to then come back and earn back to back European qualifications is amazing.

The best bit about it is how disappointed he and everyone is not to have qualified for the Europa League.

It isn’t just Europe the Irons are pushing for – any other season they would be overjoyed with the Europa Conference League but this group of players want the very best they can achieve.

That stems from Moyes – he was absolutely fuming after the loss against Brighton and it can be hard to see why from an outside perspective given the season his team have had but those are the levels that have allowed the east Londoners to bring back the glory days.

Hopefully, it will be a busy summer of signings which will help the team kick on even further next season.
