Alan Shearer blasts what happened to Scott McTominay in Man United loss v West Ham United, ‘I’d be going berserk’
Alan Shearer was furious with Manchester United’s decision-making during a 2-0 loss to West Ham as he claimed Scott McTominay should have gone “berserk”.
The Red Devils were extremely poor, managing just three shots on target throughout the match, none of which came in the second half as Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus condemned Man United.
The former Newcastle forward raged at one moment, with McTominay charging up half the pitch to support Luke Shaw and Antony with an overlap but was ignored. The attack fizzled out seconds later.

“Watch the overlap from McTominay here. He runs about 50 yards,” Shearer said on BBC’s Match of the Day on Saturday (23 December). “Antony waits for him to get around, I’d be going berserk.
“Instead, the ball goes inside, into the traffic. And the problem is gone. It is exactly what West Ham and other teams want Man United to do.”
Two sides to every coin
It is easy to blame the attacking side for a poor display during a defeat. But West Ham’s commendable defending should not be overlooked, minimising Man United to just three shots on target throughout the match. [FotMob]
The victory was a much-needed win for the Hammers, who have shipped five goals against two different teams this month – Fulham in the Premier League and Liverpool in the EFL Cup.

The three points have seen David Moyes’ West Ham move up to sixth in the table, four points off current Premier League champions Manchester City.
Although some are calling for the manager’s head because of recent results, the club’s league position and standing in Europe cannot be dismissed, with the potential for a stellar season still to be had.
They have even overtaken their Saturday opponents, with Erik ten Hag’s men floundering in eighth and just one win in December, coming against Chelsea on 6 December.
