Alan Brazil shares ‘Strange’ Tottenham v West Ham United verdict live on talkSPORT
Alan Brazil has branded the rivalry between West Ham and Tottenham as “strange” ahead of their Premier League clash on Saturday (19 October).
While the Hammers’ main rivals are Championship side Millwall, Spurs look to be a close second, especially after the dramatic meetings over the last few Premier League campaigns.
Recent history would suggest the clash will provide a goals-galore game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and a win for Julen Loeptegui’s side would take them above Spurs.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Thursday (17 October, 8:15am), Gabby Agbonlahor said: “This is one hell of a game. When I’ve been to watch these games recently, the fans really dislike each other.
“West Ham players will know that you don’t go to Spurs and lose. I’m looking forward to it – a good way to start the weekend.”
In response, Brazil said: “It’s weird because West Ham v Arsenal isn’t as bad but West Ham v Spurs is. The worst is West Ham v Millwall. Strange.”
West Ham United set to face Tottenham in ‘Strange’ rivalry
Fans will forever remember the chaotic 3-3 draw between the sides back in 2020, with Manuel Lanzini firing home the equaliser deep into stoppage time after Spurs’ quick start.
Since that game, they have met a total of nine times and seen 25 goals scored across all competitions, so the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Michail Antonio will need to be firing on all cylinders.
Despite the Hammers’ poor start to the new campaign, Lopetegui’s side are just four points behind Brighton in sixth place, grabbing a crucial three points against Ipswich Town last time out.

While Niclas Fullkrug is still set to be unavailable for the clash through injury [ExWHUEmployee], Lopetegui should have few concerns ahead of the trip to North London, which should help the Hammers this weekend.
Tottenham, on the other hand, will be keen to get back to winning ways following an embarrassing 3-2 comeback loss to the Seagulls. It could be a rather intriguing match-up.
