Alan Brazil drops ‘guaranteed’ Michail Antonio West Ham United transfer update live on talkSPORT

West Ham United striker Michail Antonio is “on his way” out of the club this summer, according to talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil.

Championship outfit Leeds United and Scottish Premiership side Celtic are targeting the forward, according to FootballTransfers (7 August).

And West Ham’s Premier League rivals Everton are also keen on a move for the Jamaican international, as per The Guardian (2 August).

Speaking live on talkSPORT, Ian Abrahams said: “We desperately need one or two strikers. Gianluca Scamacca is gone, another flop in that position. I’m pretty certain Antonio will go as well.

Brazil then interjected: “Someone text me yesterday and said ‘He’s on his way, guaranteed he’s on his way.”

Short of strikers

If Antonio does leave the London Stadium this summer, manager David Moyes will be desperately short of striking options for the new season.

Scamacca has recently left to join Serie A outfit Atalanta following his disappointing season in East London, leaving Antonio and Danny Ings as the club’s only two experienced strikers.

Youngster Divin Mubama is also an option, but it remains to be seen whether or not Moyes will trust him with a starting role, despite an impressive start to his Hammers career.

At 33, Antonio isn’t exactly the young and exciting option that many West Ham fans would want to lead their line next season, but he is perhaps their best option at this stage.

His exit could lead to major panic behind the scenes at the London Stadium, primarily as it wouldn’t leave much time for Moyes to find a suitable replacement. Moreover, the Jamaican won’t exactly attract a sizeable fee.

In other West Ham news, former player Declan Rice has reacted to Scamacca’s exit from the London Stadium.
