Akor Adams makes Premier League ‘dream’ admission amid links with West Ham United

West Ham United transfer target Akor Adams has discussed the links between him and the Irons, admitting that playing in the Premier League “is a dream”.

The Irons are reportedly keeping close tabs on the Montpellier centre-forward ahead of the January transfer window as their top priority is the signing of a new number nine to strengthen David Moyes’ frontline [Alan Nixon, 16 December].

Michail Antonio and Danny Ings have failed to find the net consistently for the Irons this season, and Adams is viewed as a player who could solve Moyes’ striking problems, but the 23-year-old has said that he has not heard anything about the Hammers’ interest.

As quoted by Milan News (19 December) he said: “To tell the truth, I didn’t think about it and I don’t know anything [about the interest of West Ham]. We are in the current season, my head is on Montpellier.

“But for all the children the Premier League is a dream.”

Premier League dream

For players all around the world, the opportunity to play in the Premier League makes a move to England an incredibly attractive prospect and that could seriously help the Hammers in their pursuit of Adams in the January transfer window.

Adams has been incredibly prolific in Ligue 1 so far this season for Montpellier, scoring seven times in 16 league appearances. Last season he managed 15 goals in 15 appearances for Norwegian side Lillestrom so it appears as though he would bring a guarantee of goals.

Moyes needs a new number when the window opens in the new year, although Jarrod Bowen has impressed when deployed out of position, the Scotsman cannot rely on the England international to score all of West Ham’s goals between now and the end of the campaign.

If Adams is being genuine when suggesting that playing in the Premier League is a dream, the Hammers have to act upon their interest. The 23-year-old is clearly interested in the chance to make the switch to the London Stadium and therefore West Ham should already be preparing their bid.
