Adrian Durham: Jarrod Bowen’s England debut could be ‘really special’ for West Ham United ace

Adrian Durham believes Jarrod Bowen’s England debut could be “really special” after the West Ham winger earned his first international call-up.

Bowen has enjoyed a remarkable season for the Hammers with 18 goals and 11 assists for David Moyes’ side in the 2021-22 season.

England are set to take on Hungary in their opening Nations League match on Saturday and talkSPORT’s Durham is excited by the winger’s potential debut.

Talking on talkSPORT on Friday [07:47, 3 June], Durham said: “I’m so looking forward to seeing him play it could be really special and he’s excited to be in the England squad.

“From non-league to the England national team is amazing.”

He will shine

The 25-year-old has proven that he belongs with the elite with his performances this season at the London Stadium.

His goals and assists have dragged West Ham to a seventh place finish this season.

Any doubts over whether Bowen can perform at the top level need to be quashed straight away.

The 25-year-old scored two excellent goals against Manchester City in the Hammers’ 2-2 draw with Pep Guardiola’s side.

He has also contributed big goals in the Europa League as Moyes’ side made it to the semi-final of the competition.

Bowen’s ability to drift inside and pick up central positions is something that England don’t have on the right wing.

Bukayo Saka is a more traditional winger who will beat his man out wide whereas Bowen will look to pick up goal scoring positions with excellent movement.

The winger provides Gareth Southgate with a different option on the right flank and it wouldn’t be a shock to see Bowen become a regular for England in the coming years.
