£8.7m update as West Ham United already make opening proposal to sign Emiliano Martinez

West Ham, Everton and Luton Town will need to shell out £8.7million to secure the services of FC Midtjylland midfielder Emiliano Martinez, according to Tipsbladet.

The Danish media outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (2 August) that the Superliga outfit are not particularly keen on losing the Uruguay international, 23, this summer.

Sports 890 and El Diario journalist Rodri Vazquez claimed on 22 June that both the Hammers and Everton had made proposals to sign him.

West Ham

Good enough?

West Ham are in a chaotic situation after losing their best player and captain for a record transfer fee paid for an English player.

That should’ve set the wheels in motion for new signings, but thus far, nothing has happened and they remain the only Premier League side not to make a new signing.

Things should not have transpired in this manner and now they have with the club all over the place and being linked with several new midfielders.

West Ham

Martinez may be decent but given his valuation and the fact that he’s not played in one of Europe’s top leagues, makes this a pointless signing.

If he’s being brought in to serve as a deputy then perhaps there could be some reason to go ahead with it but they’ve got more pressing issues at the moment.

Hopefully, they do not advance this interest and focus on more important players who will strengthen the playing eleven.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
