£45m bid update emerges as West Ham United amplify transfer pursuit to sign Fulham ace Joao Palhinha
West Ham have amplified their transfer pursuit to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha and a bid has also been made, per the Guardian.
The daily newspaper wrote on its website [17 July] that the Hammers have launched a £45million offer for the Portugal international.
However, that bid has been knocked back by the West London club who seem to want more for the 28-year-old.

Not a big deal
The first bid is usually never accepted for new signings and that’s why clubs look to low-ball with such offers and that gets the conversation started.
Palhinha is arguably Fulham’s best player and biggest asset and they will not let him go without a fight.
West Ham even finished below the Cottagers last season but managed to win a European trophy and can offer the Portugal international continental football.

With Declan Rice leaving for Arsenal, they also have the funds to go all out in pursuit of not just one but two midfielders to fill that void.
It’s impossible to think that Palhinha will be enough and they also need someone like Edson Alvarez to complement him.
It remains to be seen when the Hammers make their second bid but there’s a feeling that they’re not likely to give up on this pursuit.
In other West Ham news, a super-rich club has launched an enquiry into a star player who could follow Declan Rice out of the door as his agent may engineer a transfer.
