Michael Owen predicts West Ham v Manchester United scoreline, makes baffling Michail Antonio claim

Michael Owen predicts Manchester United to emerge as winners from Sunday’s Premier League clash with West Ham.

The Irons host the Red Devils at the London Stadium with just two points separating the sides after unbeaten starts to their seasons.

Manchester United sit top with 10 points while West Ham are 8th after successive draws against Crystal Palace and Southampton blunted their 100% record.

Owen backs the away side to leave with all three points this weekend in a 2-1 win, but he appears to have made a big Irons error.

“Michail Antonio has been in outstanding form for David Moyes’ side,” Owen told BetVictor. “He’s always had the physical tools but now he’s consistently adding goals, he must be a nightmare to play against.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Antonio score here but I still fancy United to win. United are the league’s joint top scorers and I think they will just have too much firepower.”

Where were you last weekend?

Owen has been very complimentary towards Antonio, but there’s one glaring error in his suggestion that he will score on Sunday – he won’t even be playing.

The 31-year-old Jamaica international was sent off against Southampton last weekend after picking up two yellow cards, and that means he is set to serve a one-game ban.

He was allowed to play against Dinamo Zagreb in their Europa League opener on Thursday as the suspension only applies to domestic fixtures, but he is banned for the visit of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Moyes will have to shuffle his pack on Sunday, with Jarrod Bowen and Nikola Vlasic in pole position to start at centre-forward in place of Antonio.

In other West Ham news, Charlie Nicholas claims David Moyes is livid after this recent Irons incident.
