£17.2m West Ham United update emerges in quest to sign Chelsea loanee and Juventus ace Denis Zakaria

West Ham reportedly appear to be solidifying their interest in signing Chelsea loanee and Juventus-owned Denis Zakaria this summer.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport [24 June, Page 18], contact has been made with the Old Lady to secure the services of the Swiss midfielder.

They have quoted a transfer fee of £17.2million which is something that the Hammers cannot afford to pay at this stage.

Not needed

Zakaria is technically still on loan at Chelsea for another six days and his performances in the Premier League showed why the Hammers should stay away from him.

He failed to make a mark at a team filled up with superstars where it was easier for him as Chelsea dominate possession in most games and are usually favourites.

West Ham will be undergoing a rebuild and every player will need to perform at his level best, especially in midfield, with Declan Rice leaving.

The Switzerland World Cup 2022 midfielder is certainly not that and the Hammers need to be making better signings to cope with Rice’s absence.

It remains to be seen which other players David Moyes will have on his list to replace Rice as they will have known about his departure for quite some while now.

They need to ensure that the groundwork is at least in place for any potential incomings and once the money is generated from his sale, they can secure other transfers.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are already preparing to cash in on the Declan Rice money as they hold a transfer meeting in London as they’re confident of sealing a £50million signing.
