£17.2m update as West Ham United ready to sign Arsenal transfer target Josip Sutalo
West Ham, Arsenal, RB Leipzig and Ajax are understood to be in a transfer battle to sign Dinamo Zagreb defender Josip Sutalo, according to Niccolo Ceccarini.
The Tuttomercatoweb journalist spoke to Italian radio station Radio Toscana and those quotes were carried by Fiorentina News on Thursday (3 August).
It’s understood that the Hammers are willing to pay £17.2million in order to secure the services of the Croatian centre-back, 23, this summer.

Ceccarini said, “For Sutalo there are 4 clubs ready to put at least 20 million euros for the player. From Leipzig to Arsenal to West Ham and Ajax.”
Makes sense
The 23-year-old may not be a household name to the avid Premier League fan but he’s one of the best defenders in the Croatian league and even for the national team.
He’s set to leave this summer and the calibre of clubs keen on him suggests that he’s only going to get better in the coming years.
He was at the World Cup as well but was on the bench but within a few years, he’s certain to be a regular on the national team as well.

Standing at 6ft 3in tall, he’s not just someone who’s imperious in the air but is also technical and very good with the ball at his feet.
He’ll be an important option in position as well as out of it and this is a signing the Hammers need to consider making this summer.
It remains to be seen if they do end up going ahead with it as there seems to be way too much chaos behind the scenes at the club.
In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
